IPA Install Methods – PC / Online

What is IPA file?

The iOS package available in the App Store, also known as an IPA file, is essentially a compressed ZIP file containing the specific application’s data. This file serves as a container, holding the components that constitute an app for iPod, iPad, or iPhone touch devices.

IPA file install methods

Want to know how to install IPA files? Here are all the methods I’ve found. I will cover both IPA installation methods and online, no-jailbreak alternatives.

Basically IPA install methods can be categorized for two major methods.

• PC Method – Windows / mac / Linux
• Online Method – Direct from iPhone and iPad

PC IPA install Methods

There are a few PC tools for sideloading IPA files. In this conversation, you can gain an idea of the PC-supported tools for IPA sideloading and how they can be used for the process.

• AltStore

AltStore is a tweak app store and an alternative to the App Store. Users can utilize it to sideload IPA apps that are not available on the official App Store. Users running iOS 14 and later can use AltStore to sideload IPA files. AltStore supports both Windows and macOS systems.

Sideloady supports iOS 7 and all the way up to iOS 17.1+. Windows and macOS users can use the Sideloadly method to sideload any IPA file

• Cydia Impactor

Cydia Impactor was the first tool to support IPA sideloading. However, it is currently outdated and does not offer support for the latest versions. If you have an older version, you can still use Cydia Impactor for sideloading

• iTunes 

While iTunes was commonly used for various tasks, such as syncing and managing iOS devices, it was not directly involved in IPA sideloading. IPA sideloading typically refers to the process of installing apps on iOS devices without going through the official App Store, often for testing purposes or using apps not available on the App Store.

Online IPA install Methods

There were various online methods and services available for IPA installation on iOS devices. Here are some popular methods that were used for IPA sideloading.

• Tweak App stores

Tweak app stores are popular online sideloading methods. These stores list popular IPA packages with online installation links. Simply tap the links to install—very easy. However, these apps only work for 7 days and need to be reinstalled once revoked.

• TrollStore

TrollStore is the latest online sideloading method, supporting iOS up to version 17. However, there is no direct way to install the TrollStore main app. You must use the PC sideload method to install the TrollStore main app, after which you can use IPA files without a PC

• OTA Deployment

OTA (Over the Air) Deployment enables you to install your built apps online. With this method, you will receive a shared link to sideload the IPA
